not connecting to internet throught 3G

i cant seem to get my xoom connected to the internet through the 3G sim/data card i got with it i was under the impression it would connect instantly

i bought this from a company called simply electonics and it came with english and chinese instructions i dont know if this is just normal with stuff like this im worried now that the tablet is a chinese one
