Hi all,
I just bought an Onda V971 two days ago. I am trying to acertain the status of firmware, custom ROMs, and the eventual possibility of installing an Ubuntu port on the V971. I am currently using the stock install:
Android 4.1.1
Baseband version v1.2
Kernel version: 3.3.0
I mainly use Ubuntu on my PC, but I can dual boot into Windows 7. It seems to me that my first order of business is to update the firmware and uninstall those Chinese apps.
1) Is the V971 already rooted or do I need to root it first?
2) Should I use a custom firmware as listed on another thread, or is a stock firware available that does the same thing?
3) What is the current status of custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod and the Android Open Kang Project?
4) Is anyone aware of an Ubuntu based port for the Onda V971?
