Over my head?

Hello. I'm a 44yo dad who's trying to make the Android Tablet 2.2 that I'm giving my 7yo daughter for Xmas fantastic.lol
However, I'm not sure what it is.lol A big phone or a funky laptop?
I'm not that new to PC stuff, but still having trouble. I hope I can get it sorted before Santa comes with your help.
