Yesterday I somehow set up a password and now I have to enter it to unlock the screen. How do I change or remove it? I am running 4.1.2 on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. I've tried to Google the answer but they all refer to a "Location and Security" setting. There is no such setting! I've tried all the options in "Security" , "Lock screen" and "Display" without success. I can't face the hassle of doing a factory reset and can't believe it is the only way.

You should be able to go to Settings - Screen Lock - (enter current password) - Slide or None.

Keep in mind if you have an Exchange or VPN configured, Jelly Bean requires a password/PIN/Pattern.

Moved to Jelly Bean forum.

Thank you for your prompt reply which, of course, worked perfectly. It is glaringly obvious when you know how! :) Thanks again.

Glad it is sorted.

Sometimes it is hard to see the forest from the trees.
