Here's a nougat test build of unlegacy android.

Is the audio jack switching correct on this install?
And is the recent video stutter problem sorted?

If you install over unlegacy v6 will previous nano gapps be intact, or do you have to re-install?

Other than that, what are the advantages over the version 6?

thanks as per usual for your fantastic work!

Audio jack switching should be fixed. I can't reproduce the video stutter issue on my tablet.

You have to reinstall gapps. But nano?? I thought that never fit...

Hmmmm... Future-proofness? Security? Although I haven't added kernel security patches since November.

I installed this experimental Nougat build, very promising! Quick feedback:
- Wifi OK
- USB OK
- Video - Audio OK (no stuttering)
- GAPPS (7.1 Arm Pico) OK = Play Store OK
- INTERNET Browser OK
- Split screen (parallel aps, Nougat feature) OK
- HDMI OK (both picture & sound)
- Bluetooth OK (paired with my mouse easily)

Minor bug: cannot change wallpaper :)

Thanks for testing! What launcher are you using? I using the Google Now launcher and I can change wallpapers find.

Also - please let me know of any functionality that succeeds. I cannot test hdmi out myself, so that would be especially nice.

Hi PJBrs,

I installed the image from your link and the arm 7.1 pico gapps.
Playstore is giving an error retrieving information from server [RH-01]
gmail has stopped crash. same with google app.

something wrong on the gapps side?

I did notice when installing you zip 2 "unknown command" errors right at the end, but success was reported

So, just flashed the Nougat build, and I have to say SOMEONE GIVE THIS GUY A COOKIE! The tablet runs smooth, unbelievably smooth. WiFi working, video working (big Buck bunny at 720p 60 hz running flawless on YouTube). I'll give it a test during the following days, but I would dare to say that it runs better than Android 6.

BTW, I am writing this from the A2109...

You need to install both nougat and gapps straight after each other, without rebooting. Please retry. I didn't have any problems like that myself

Here's a nougat test build of unlegacy android.

I install this Nougat build over the Unlegacy 6.0.1 with Gapps pico without any problem. Before install, I clear Dalvik cache and Cache and install Nougat and Gapps at the same time.

It is working great, fast and smooth. Here my test result for now:
- Bluetooth audio headset is working correctly. It happen once that I lost audio in the headset and audio was coming out of the tablet speakers and it get back to headset after 1 or 2 minutes automatically.
- Screen rotation is working anywhere even in unlock screen.
- Music player (I had test a few) has some glitches when playing audio (I was using my bluetooth headset).
- Video, with MX Player, did not have any glitches.
- Camera is working on both sides. I try to switch from one to the other a few times and still working.

For a first try, it is very impressive.

Thanks @PJBrs

It's starting to sound like feature parity with Nougat, with two bugs gone (video glitchiness, sound from speakers when headphones attached), and perhaps one new one (glitchiness in music player with sound via bluetooth).

Working:
  • EGL
  • Video playing
  • Bluetooth (input devices, sound devices)
  • Camera (@joebine: both video-recording and taking pictures?)
  • USB
  • Wifi
  • HDMI-out
  • Light sensor
  • Gyroscope sensor
  • GPS
Untested:
  • Encryption
  • Cast screen
  • Adoptable storage
Hmmm.... Is this list complete?

Sounds like I should merge and release!

What about battery life?

And thanks for testing everybody! Keep reporting!

I try to connect to a Miracast dongle... The tablet see the dongle but can not connect.
Did that work on Marshmallow?

I connected to chromecast, which works, but indeed it crashes on disconnect, while it worked fully on Marshmallow... It's not a significant reduction in functionality, but I do hate regressions...
