a guy (Ganster41) made a patch, which supports to use legacy qualcomm omx drivers on ics (hopefully it will ported to jb too), so _maybe_ there is a chance to get a working hardware video decoding! unfortunately im not at home, so it have to wait a little.. (about a week)

Hi there, new user in this forum
i come across a discussion bout an alpha Cyanogenmod based on ICS for Ideos S7 Slim on my local forum, followed it, read the petition, join the petition, got here, saw the thread, read it, study it...ended up trying it, since its the reason i got here in the first place...so here's the report :

Had my S7 Slim for 2 Years now, going back and forth from stock ROM to Trizet Rom, hoping theres more, found it....thankfull for Asturel determination and hardwork, and others who contribute also, never been happier finding a custom rom.

so i install it

step by step :
- reload my stock rom S7-201u V100R001C186B015(Indonesia XL Axiata)
- follow the steps loaded the recovery image twrp_touch_recovery_2.3.1.1.img
- load the Cyanogen Mod by Bro Asturel cm-10-20121023-EXPERIMENTAL-s7-asturel
- load the gapps from Goo.im gapps-jb-20120815-KonstaKANG
- Cross my finger and reboot

My Device Load the ROM, got to the Introduction/Registration Wizard, sign in to my Google account.
everything works well ( other than BT and Camera as stated on this forum, didn't matter i'm running JB on my S7 Slim baby!)
had some issue with the touch screen responsiveness, but then again that could be the cause of my S7 being tossed around by my son for the past year, because i have this issued from back when i used the stock rom an the trizet rom ( less noticable when i used the belarus ROM though).
so far found no critical error, no issue from Google Play too, i can install apps as usual, ran a few benchmark flawlessly, so all in all a success.

gonna be scrutinizing it for days to comes...hoping i can help too in any way i can.

so thanks to asturel and anyone who contributed....Wonderfull work you've done!

BT works ..at least on paranoid that i use but that should be the same as CM10 ..i use bluetooth tehtering all the time and works no problem

Tryed on paranoid 2.23 but nothing..same cpy usage when playing youtube which means still soft decoding..whow much cpy usage when playing youtube do you get on CM10(U can use quick system info to check)

p.s: i tested with these files http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/android-tablet-video/23117-sample-mp4-videos-your-tablet.html
it plays fine (with gallery app e.g.) with hwa video decoding.
for 720p it doesnt have enought mem allocated in kernel, so i have to modify it when i'll be around my comp. (

p.s.2: turned out, it not works only with the memreduced kernel, without it it plays fine these vids:

fixed the native wifi tethering in cm10.. but after turning off the tethering wifi wont be usable until reboot :/ is it worth to enable in this state?

BT works ..at least on paranoid that i use but that should be the same as CM10 ..i use bluetooth tehtering all the time and works no problem

my bad....i reflash it and now it works, file transfer and wireless headset works flawlessly. mobile network works too.

(i tried USB OTG but can't detect the volume, it shows up on lsusb though) oops again...didnt see this post

to mount usb pendrive change the last line from system/etc/vold.fstab

this :
dev_mount udisk /mnt/udisk auto /devices/platform/msm_hsusb_host.1/usb1



with this :

save and reboot

i will try again with other cable, once i got my hands on it though. used Apex launcher but not much better then the stock launcher ( at least for me).
so overall what works is :
- WIFI
- Bluetooth
- Mobile Network
- GPS

going to try the new version 20121105 once i finish downloading it.

Yes it is worth..same was and on stock rom for me..when I disable wifi tehtering I had to restart device to turn it on..can you give me files that are changed to add to paranoid..o will try with different kernel hw thing

Edit:I try HW asceleration on new paranoid 2.54 and it works..now it works in HD..great job.
But just to know..paranoid does not boot with that bootanimation..I didnt change because I thing that you changed and goot bootloop ..bootanimation did not even show..after changing with that cm10 witch is smaller it boot normaly.
