I haven't heard of anyone being able to root it since the update. Hope you can get it rooted soon. I'm "rooting" for you.;)

Just a quick question has anyone tried the Droid 3 root on The Vizio. I haven't Tried it but I am going to when I get a chance. It was supposed to be able to root any device running gingerbread.

PLEASE let us know!!!

I feel like I'm sub-human without it rooted and tethered to my ad-hoc only symbian phone.

Thanks!

If you are on windows vista or Windows 7 make sure you install the driver as an admin and run SOC as an admin.

To test your connection with adb:

After installing the drivers open a command prompt in the folder where the adb.exe is located at, make sure USB debugging is on and connect your VTAB to your computer.

Now type "adb devices" without the quotes and you should see:

D:\Android\tools>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
Your serial number here device

If this does not work then adb is not connecting to your VTAB.

For me the version of adb that is packaged with the doom script does not connect, but the version packaged with SOC 2.2 does. I copied the zergRush exploits from doom's script to the exploit folder on SOC 2.2 and used SOC. I am on WinXP Pro

Okay, I would not be asking you if this if I didn't give it my best shot. I followed step by step. DoomLord failed, So I copied the ZergRush V3 file into my SOC 2.2 folder and I hang up at step 7: http://i.imgur.com/nkEvn.jpg

With DoomLord the tablet actually restarted but superuser was not installed.

Debugging is on, unknown apps are allowed, it is the only device plugged into my laptop AND it is being recognized by 'adb devices' :http://i.imgur.com/MVWwY.jpg

I think it is a driver problem. I had trouble trying to install them but ended up with this: http://i.imgur.com/xhWvP.jpg

This is the only way I could get it to recognize any type of driver what so ever so, i've been going through them one by one. Any advice? You seem to be the man.

I posted a link to the right drivers for both AMD and Intel somewhere in this thread.

What is the software version of your VTAB? If you are on the latest software from Vizio these methods will no longer root your VTAB and a working method has not been found.

If your tab was updated to 1.5, then there is no longer root. I think a solution is being worked on for this though.

Thanks for responding.

I've come to this realization that my software V.I.A. Plus 1.4 is locked. BUMMER. My friend has a nook and you can boot from sd card to honeycomb/nookiefroyo...Would this be at all possible with the VTAB? I'm going to try with no expectations with the same card.

all I get is "the system cannot find the path specified" I have rooted phones before and I think I can follow directions fairly well. but as of right now I am completely lost. i have downloaded drivers and installed drivers and installed pdanet, it only wants to let me do the tablet version. i am open to all suggestions on what i should do.
