Welcome to the forum
The best suggestion/comment I can make about the Gallery is that it should find any pictures that are in your tablet. You don't really "put" anything there. If some aren't appearing it could be a cache issue. Sometimes it will take a few minutes for the Gallsery app to catch up with any photos as it needs to index the content.
There are dozens of ways to move items back and forth from your PC/laptop. My initial suggestion would be to use DropBox but I have a link below that will lead to a thread on various ways to transfer files.
