Whether you use an antivirus on your Android device or not is a matter of personal preference. Some folks wouldn't run without one while others claim there never was or ever will be an Android virus. I myself use AVG free and Lookout on my tablet. Both are free and there was no noticeable effect on my performance when I installed them, so why not? Bottom line, do whatever you feel most comfortable with.

Question about Android Viruses?
http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...ions/7002-question-about-android-viruses.html

anti-virus product for an android tablet
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1767466

well looks it might be safer to have an anti virus just because I sideload alot thanks for the links

I liked vipre when I was evaluating security suites
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1m4tE1FsatmaFoYjdYOrvpYMfiffgijGWNctBFh5Px_g/edit?hl=en_US

but I think I'll try vipre mobile
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ssd.vipre&hl=en

vipre was one of the fastest and very light on resources

I'm not saying it cannot or will not happen, or that it hasn't happened (maybe I just missed it), but I can't say as I've yet heard of a single virus, worm or trojan for any of the mobile OS'.

If the Android OS proves to be the electronic Petri dish Windows is, I'll have to move to another mobile OS or drop it entirely. I don't use MS-Win in large part due to that nonsense. I'm not going to live with it with another OS.

There has been some reports of viruses in the android world, but thankfully the good people of the android community and the great android os these were able to be removed before they could cause any problems. Lookout mobile security is in my opinion a perfect firewall and antivirus program. I have it on both my evo4g's and on my vtab1008. Would get on the web without it. Better to be safe than sorry.

Spider,
I'm new to Andriod so when I tried to download Lookout it said it was not compatible with the Vtab and nothing happened. Do I need to "sideload", and if so, how is that done.

Do I need to "sideload", and if so, how is that done.

Before you do that, try downloading from another site.
Amazon.com: lookout: Appstore for Android
Lookout Security & Antivirus for Android | AppBrain.com

If that doesn't work, download the .apk file from here to your PC.
Downloading the file 1311250788_Lookout_Mobile_Security_6.2.apk ...
Once you have the .apk, copy it to an SD card, put it into your tablet and tap on it. That should "sideload" it. I've never had to do this myself, so if anyone has a correction to this please post it.

You can request a link from lookout through the contact developer option in the app store thats the only way I could get it. They sent me an email with a link. When you select the link it will automatically download the apk which is the safest and best option. Imho lookout is the best mobile protection. At this time they are working on a tablet version.
