Make sure the camera is enabled. Skype doesn't always turn it on by default. Just tap the window to bring up the camera menu.

Yes this is a Skype problem, not an Android or Thrive problem. Skype 2.6.0.95 has green screens with Android 3.1, not with Android 3.2 though

Uninstall Skype ver 2.6.0.95 and install Skype 2.5.0.160 if you are on Android 3.1

1..You must set "SETTINGS >> Applications >> Unknown Sources,
allow
..."

2..Just un-install the current Skype first (Settings >>Applications>> Manage Applications >>Tap the"Downloaded" tab >> scroll down to SKYPE, select it >> Uninstall)

3..Click on this link- and the working version (2.5.0.160) should download and it should prompt you to install it.
