Welcome and you shouldn't feel like an idiot, we all had to learn this stuff. Adb means (android debug bridge) . To root your tablet you'll first need to unlock your bootloader. You can find guides for this in our development section.

Unlocking the bootloader guide is here.
http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...52434-howto-unlocking-bootloader-windows.html

Then after you unlock the bootloader you'll need to install clock work mod recovery and root. You'll find that guide here.
http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...8-how-install-clockworkmod-recovery-root.html

If you have any questions about either of those just ask in the thread your having trouble with and you'll find help.

Make sure to read read read as much as you can before hand. Its really not hard to do. This tablet was one of the easiest andriods I've ever unlocked. Good luck and have fun with your new tablet.

To add to the links Linsalata gave you:

A collection of useful files and drivers: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...l/52307-useful-files-drivers-modded-roms.html
If you have trouble setting up the fastboot drivers: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/lenovo-ideatab-a2109-technical/51074-howto-a2109-fastboot.html

Like Linsalata said, pretty much everything your need to know to is on these forums, just read up first. If you have questions on the A2109, post them here. For more general Android questions, try googling first, you'll probably find the answers you're looking for, but if not we can probably help.

I took the plunge and rooted mine the other night..

1st..

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-IdeaTab-Slate-Tablets/Development-A2109-Root/td-p/863109/page/2

Scroll down to mcl's instructions to unlock the boot loader. Then

http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...ly-bean-rooted-deodexed-crapware-removed.html

follow those steps.. Took me all of 20 minutes.

Hi there and welcome. Your definitely in the right place.

You'll want to look here to unlock your bootloader.
[HowTo] Unlocking the Bootloader (Windows)
And here to install CWM recovery and root.
[HOW TO] Install ClockworkMod Recovery and Root
If you have questions just ask in those threads that your having a problem with and you'll definitely get help.
It's pretty easy as long as you have some common knowledge of android and adb and fastboot.
Good luck! :)

Lol...Just got my A2109 and was looking for a tutorial on how to root this device but there were no related "stickies"

So I decided to have a look on this thread for other reasons ( following the topic) and then I found all the info I needed (off-topic ) thanks pressed
Why those useful threads are not sticky by the way?

And by the way again, I didn't expect these device being so good with such a low price !
That's some good buy !

Happy user here
:D

Sure,

Second day on this great device, not rooted yet, just disabled some bloatware in settings, removed some apps from system startup, and already getting these results:

Hi everyone! I have had my a2109 for about two months now, and am really enjoying it. I came from a Viewsonic G tablet, which was good in its day, but it really doesn't run new versions of Android very well. Looking forward to rooting/flashing CM10 on this tablet as soon as it becomes stable. Anyone having luck with it so far?

Just brought mine 2 days ago - was having trouble with my 64 Micro SD card not being found. Google put one of the threads and I have now sorted that problem along with removing the the frigign' cover  . Thanks for the help all ready. brought mine from Currys for £169. My 1st tab. nearly £100 cheaper than the Samsung tab thing. so thought yeah why not. So far so good.

So thanks for the assistance already, mucho grassy arse! :D
