Many folks have expressed that they would not play certain types of games on tablets because they didn't have access to using a controller with those games. It seems that Sony has been listening to their complaints and is looking ahead to the future. A new official update to the Sony Tablet S allows you to use your PlayStation 3 controller with your tablet. For now, this update is only available in Japan, and only applies to the Tablet S. It will not work on their smaller Tablet P. Additionally, you will also need to purchase a separate USB adapter cable to sync the controller with the tablet. They didn't specify any particular games that were compatible, other than the Playstation-certified 32 bit games that came with or can be played on the tablet. This seems like a step in the right direction if they are ever going to win gamers over from consoles to tablets.

Interestingly, while researching this story, I also found a third party app that some of you may already be aware of, called Sixaxis Controller. This app, which can be found on the Android Market, already allows you to utilize your PS3 controller with several different Android devices. If you want to see a video of it in action, and find out more about it, just hit up the second Engadget link below. The article is from way back in August of this year, but seemed relevant to this potential discussion topic. It also looks like a very complicated solution for some folks. Regardless, its nice to see that the manufacturers are starting to take notice of this "discrepancy" in gaming on tablets and come up with "official" adaptations. Share your thoughts.
