Still Feel Like a Newbie

I'm an old DOS and Windows guy. I recently bought this android Asus MeMO Tablet Smart 10 (ME301T). No regrets.

I downloaded ES File Explorer. Some folders are showing up with a small arrow in the lower left corner, just like shortcut arrows in Windows. Are they really shortcuts to other folders?
