Still Possible to root... remote app broken

Hey all. This is my first post here.

I had my tablet rooted and I had the update nag screen. Tried the App that supposedly is supposed to save the root. Long story short I did the update and root is gone. Not sure if there's a way to downgrade then re-root, but form what I've seen here it can't be done, but I know my phone, a droid X can be downgraded to re-root.

Second issue is the remote control app. It was working before the 1.5 update. Now the app crashes everytime I try to program a device.

Is there any hope for either, or am I just outta luck?

Why did you try to save the root and take the upgrade to start with? Maybe someone can upload a good file for the remote app.

I'm an Android noob. I had it rooted and I thought that app made the root unbreakable, or something like that. Just wanted to use it as I wanna use it.

I guess I don't understand what the app does.. How would it make it unbreakable?
From what I understand, when you root the tablet, it just gives you full access to every file at a root access level.
That way you can manipulate root files and configuration files. You can also delete critical files that make the tablet function at the lowest level.

I've so far have not found any significant reason to root mine.

I assume an app that makes a rooted tablet unbreakable would be a good thing... I just don't understand if that is possible because of the nature of what rooting does.

Itsvthe apk from the update. My wife's did same thing. I had to install mine from. 56 on here's to fix it. When I get home tonight ill upload it.

1.5 did fry the remote app on most brands to program using code search. On both of my tablets, one rooted then upgraded to 1.5 (darn that significant other) and the other that came with 1.5, both dont work. When programming with code search, for example try TV / LG for example and it is almost always going to crash the process. When contacting Vizio all they could suggest was a reset of the tablets, but that did nothing but ruin my day and time, still crashes. Hopefully the Honeycomb release includes a fix for this. My suggestion, spam vizio support with the problem until they fix it.

Thanks Serosis, at least the V1.4 version works, did not crash once since sideloading it. I think that both versions are the same, they have exactly the same file size, so maybe it just needed a fresh load to fix the remote-code database.

No they are not. Load 1.5apk. I got 20 says it crashes.

They're not the same, did a cheap comparison using windiff and it seems they didn't change much at all.
