Storing

I purchased a new tablet. I have a Coby 7024 that I would like to give to a family member. She lives in England and won't visit until August. I don't want to send it.

How do I store it? Do I just let the battery run down, or charge it once a month?

Going by the number of threads which start "I just tried to boot up my xyz Tablet after a couple of months and it won't start" I'd be inclined to get it out about once a month and fire it up and let the battery drain a bit then recharge it, at least you'll know that it is still working!!

Definitely charge it once a month. Everything I've read on the subject says to charge the battery up before storing.

Things may have changed (technological advances) but it certainly used to be that if you stored an item with a rundown rechargeable battery it would NEVER hold a charge again!
