I have been a Windows guys for years and in IT for ever.

I just recently picked up my first tablet, Acer A500.

Currently have a BlackBerry Storm 2 and would like to tether, but not feeling the will to root my new tablet.

Totally bewildered by Android, but then it is only my second day so I still have hope.

Rooting itself really is not big a deal on devices where it can be done. Since you are an old windows dude, think of it as simply adding yourself as an admin for your tablet.
