TechVendetta has CWM working on some tablets.

However, the 7" Disgo 6000 refuses to take the modified recovery. I believe these are basically Sylvania SYNET7LP tablets, but TV seems to be making good progress. :) Looks like it's just a matter of waiting.

Yeah I'm only one person and these tablets aren't really open source. A ics rom is in the works as is a repo for my source. Cwm works on the sylvania 7" models. I don't have a disgo to test with. I have mentioned that roms must be modified to be used. Remove the boot and checks. Then use arm 6vl or arm5.

Well I suppose for starters, if anyone has knowledge of specific differences between it and the sytabex7 that would help. Next off, a link to the best ius so far for it, then what it says in settings about product model, kernel, and so on. The a print off of mounts and mtdblock info. Does my recovery flash to the disgos at all? I'm getting mixed reports on that end, probably since there seems to be different hardware sets and block layouts...

I'm rocking the Sylvania SYNET7LP-DS myself. I'll keep monitoring this post to see if we can get beyond 2.2! Thanks.

Ok been doing some digging...

This is the official Android 2.1 .IUS for the Disgo 6000 tablet: http://222.73.93.45/update/12.2.0.5/disgo_12.2.0.5.1.4.ius

This is the 2.2 update for the Sylvania tablets that works on the Disgo 6000:
http://222.73.93.45/update/11.2.0.6/11.2.0.6.2.0_beta3.ius

EDIT: I don't know for sure if the modified CWM works on the standard Disgo 6000, though I've seen a few people post here that it does. I do know that it doesn't work with the 2.2 update.

And THAT would be the answer I expected. I'll bet that the 2.2 update changed the partition table, removing the recovery partition I target and replacing it with a updater partition. In theory, if you were to flash the 2.1 ius, then use iusedit on the 2.2 and flash the system, kernel, and ramdisk from 2.2 you could probably then flash my recovery, then root and su reboot recovery.

If I can find a way to get this stupid semi-brick to start working, then I will fiddle around with that.

The only other one I've got is my girlfriends, and I think she'll complain if I start flashing random stuff to it. ;)

Hi all -

Droid noob here, just enough *NIX-Fu to understand what y'all are trying to do, not enough to feel comfortable doing it myself.

Anyways - I spent the afternoon yesterday reading this entire thread, and I have to ask - has anyone here actually done the DG 7900/8000 2.3 OTA Update? I was thinking it might be a means to reverse-engineer and gain the hardware acceleration of GB, if you can hack it to make Market work like you did on 2.1/2.2, or if the modified Market apk you guys have will still run on it.

According to their site, the update's been up since 12/6/2011; I have the apk but I'm afraid to pull the trigger after hearing in another thread that it installs a different bootloader and nobody yet knows how to rollback if it turns the tablet into a turd.

Anybody else in this project have any more knowledge of this?

My disgo - Android 2.3 Update for 7900/8000

Good work, BTW - and good luck!

Mhmmmm... looks like I killed this thread... or at least maimed it. Would it help if I offered to be a guinea pig for the above-mentioned "Update"?

I wouldn't, but I did. So now I must.

remoh That screen shot shows they are the same board which pretty much verifies my above theory. If anyone wants to downgrade back they can follow what I said and probably get cwm and which ever system.img they want via expert flash.

As for ICS progress, I've been busy lately coding a program for a friends business which has took some of my free-time away lately, but I'm still working on things.

I haven't fiddled with my semi-brick lately, so I can't take the leap right now. :)

What you need is a program called IUW1.2 and preferably a PC running Windows XP 32-bit.
