I would appreciate some help if anybody knows how to root and flash custom roms on this tablet.

Have tried Superoneclick, z4root, androot, easyroot, visionary all without success.

Have also figured out how to use adb. Even if someone can just explain to me how to get read/write access to /system/app so I can remove some of the awful apps that came with the tablet (especially cell standby - which seems to be draining my battery, even though no 3G capability exists).

    Here's the numbers and specs:

    Telefunken TPAD-7A3GEA
    Model number TR718DC_V21
    Processor : RK2818 600MHz
    System Ram : 256MB
    Internal Storage : 4GB
    Display : 7" TFT Touch Screem, 800x480
    Power : Li-ion battery 4000mAh 3.7V, 5V/2A Adaptor
    Firmware : v2.21_00.11-US@20110816
    Android : 2.2.1
    Kernel : 2.6.25_(V2.2_4_718DC(E8_R8)_D2_RH_A18_T@0816)
    Build : froyo1.00 MASTER.eng.root.20110323.164551

    Thanks!

This looks like my tablet. Mine got messed up when I transferred some data to the TF card via USB. It did not want to disconnect and on shutting the computer down it sat endlessly at the logging out message, until i switched off the computer.
Thereafter I had all kind of problems.
    This is what I did:
Rescue what is on the TF card (all my files are in another place as well but not organised in the same way)
Save what is on the internal memory card
Remove TF card (unmount or switch off first)
    Restore factory settings
    Reboot
    Get WiFi to work
    Reboot
    Install TF card, mount
    Reformat TF card
    Reboot
Install SlideMe from Internal memory card
DO NOT upgrade SlideME to version 4.3 (mine is version 4.2)
    Reboot
Test SlideMe by downloading and installing an app

Quite a mission. I don't know whether the rebooting is required but I do it anyway.
I now seem to have a working device again.
