Some savvy developers are working hard on porting Android 3.0/Honeycomb to the older Advent Vega Android Tablet. Right now the hardest part for devs is to get hardware acceleration working between Honeycomb and older hardware. Without this hardware acceleration, any transitions cause the device to slow down considerably. They are very close to making it work fully on the Vega, and it will assist them for other older devices too. Here's a quote from the SlashGear article with some more details.
The two main devs responsible for the bulk of the work are XDA members Zebwen and HomerSp, others were involved too. The devs used bits of code from the SDK, Motorola Xoom, and Asus Transformer. This is a major breakthrough with ports and could very well open the door to hardware acceleration on ports for other devices as well.

this is also being very closely following and monitored by Roebeet and some of our members in the Viewsonic G-Tablet forum. Since we share architectures this bodes well for Honeycomb on the G-Tablet. In fact, there is an Alpha out there already called honeycream for the G-Tablet.
