Thrive less than a week old. Powers off completely on it's own after minutes or freez

Well, I am not a happy Thrive owner. Had it for only days and I can do nothing with it because it shuts itself off after only minutes being on. Does this none stop. If it doesn't shut off it freezes up and i have to shut it off. Applications close or go back to previous page, also, on their own. Bought this to use for schoolwork in a pinch, but it is completely useless to me for anything at all! Is there a solution to this? If not, it's going back to the store, for good.
