trouble surfing

I am using the android browser and when I go to google it comes up fast . I type in my search and it just sits there...why can I not surf with my tablet? My wifi is fine as my laptop works fine off it I just can't use the internet too well with table...can someone help. I mainly just use it for things I don't go online line for like games :-( such a waste.
