andersondias.. after looking through the files you posted you either tried to mash the mid8024 files into the c8lean rom and have a mid 7024 (and i would suggest following flxrms's advice). or you are trying to get a custom rom onto the mid8024 and in this case you would want to change how your going at it. for the mid8024 you would want to use the stock u-boot.bin and modify the other files in the new rom with parts from the c8lean rom.

oconel.. i am looking around i believe i was wrong in saying i can use the files from the mid8024 update to make a better gingerbread rom for the mid7024. wicced247 seemed to be going in the right direction till he bricked his tablet also. i can try to modify wicced's rom for you so you can have a working camera if you wish. i believe he had market in it. i will look into doing some of the mods he mentions doing for his second release but hast released it yet because of his broken tablet.
edit: it seems like i may want to start from scratch useing c8lean 1.1 so there is a newer base for you to use. if you have problems with it i will revert to working on wicceds

alright oconel i have created a custom gingerbread rom for the mid7024 by customizing c8lean 1.1

the volume buttons dont work and i dont have an app for the screen calibration at the moment

DISCLAIMER: i cant test this rom so if in the very slight chance it bricks your tablet its not my fault.

*i used the zimage and zimage.debug from c8lean 0.7 for the buttons.
*i added s3c-button.kl also to get buttons working properly
*i have the 3g turned on also
*since it was derived from c8lean its already rooted and has market
*i hex edited all the files to get the camera working
*added stock boot logo
*added stock background (i hope i did it right)
*Changed device name to MID7024

i have two versions for you to try but only use the second if the rotation is off by 180 on the first

custom gingerbread rom
c8lean 1.1 meshed.rar

custom gingerbread rom no 180 fix
c8lean 1.1 meshed no 180 flip.rar

Is there any way for me to pull the coby calibration app from my rooted 7024? I know I could just try to find the .apk and pull that, but I'm not sure if there are supplemental files that need to go along with it.

its under system\app UT_TSCAL.APK you can just copy that to your extsd card. i've been using that with other 2.2 roms but not 2.3

Cool......:))

It works.....great.
I did every step at the web page..and I got a WHITE screen. :))

No BIGGY!! I got that "white screen" when I installed your
"CFW-Base-on-C8lean_v0.51-MID7024.rar" ROM. So, I know that even
though the screen is pure white.....the CPU is still writting to it.

So, I just waited for the recovery program to finish its job and shut
off the device. I then took out the microSD card deleted the junk stuff
from the Haipad M7 rom "HerotabC8_V2.2_2011_03_01.zip" and tossed the
stuff from "MID8024-Firmware.zip" onto the microSD card and then when
into recovery mode again. The Coby shut off. I turned it back on...
And got the "COBY" thingy and the rest is history. COOL!

Just like to point out to others with a "blank" or "white" screen that
can't see nil...when you press the power button with the HOME button
down too..just wait 3 seconds and release the power button. Continue
holding down the HOME button for another 3-4 seconds and release that
too. It doesn't matter what the screen looks like..the COBY is still
doing something.

Well, since I now have the Coby open...I guess I can replace the 4G
SanDisk card with a 16G one...cool...now what page was that thread on....:)

BTW, I took pictures of the inside of the Coby MID8024. If anybody wants them
I can post them. Just tell me how to....:_))

Thanks go out to "flxrms" & "prox32" & all the others who keep this thread up
and running.

Thank you very much, I'll try this at home today. I said I wanted gingerbread with the modified U-boot because I thought it would resolve the HDMI output (which works, but not with the video), but I don't know if it's the case. I'll try this.
I understand the brick risks, but I don't mind =D
Thx again !

Thats cool you have a working tablet. I suggest to save that instruction and haipad firmware that revive your tablet. Hehehe

I want to make the suggestion at this point that now that we have a working base to go from with making custom roms and working official roms for all MID *024's (7024/1024 with a little hex editing), that we go ahead and splinter off into separate ROM threads and keep this one going for unbricking information, since that seems to be more universal where as the Roms are not. That way we can keep a more concise record of what hex editing needs to be done for which tablet and which roms work for each tablet, because as of right now, its getting rather confusing and its getting easier and easier to brick your tablet if you hadn't read 3-4 pages ago to know that a rom posted isn't for your tablet. Any thoughts?

i agree with nefirim on making other threads for the custom roms. i will collect the 3 roms i made and move them over to another thread for the mid7024. but the first post in the thread i will post the hex edits and such so people can make there own custom roms easily

i have not been able to get the 2.2 calibration to work on 2.3

Hey guys just wanted to shared something with you all.
When I found the official update for 8024 I send an email to our good friend Mike Hardial at coby (we have already exchanged some mails) asking if they had plans on realeasing and official 7024 update.
Today I got this

The 7024 firmware will be on the site on friday
cleardot.gif

Short words as usual, I don't get my hopes to high since we have been lied before but well, lets just see what happens.

Hey Arlic, was there anything else you did besides those steps? I have the exact same problem but I followed the steps to the letter but my tablet still continues to just turn on the soft lights for a few moments then turn off

He's lying to you :p

He send me an 8024 firmware and says that works on 7024. Obviously doesn't work.

maybe a better answer is that he is "technically challenged" by the high level items such as firmware . . .

Unfortunately, I actually may have hit end of the road with the tablet. It won't stay powered on unless I hold the power button and even then, the lights and everything turns off after about 7 seconds. True shame too, I really liked the device and only had it about 3 weeks. I guess thats the breaks when you try new stuff on a not so highly supported device.
