Atm i am using the adw launcher i cannot add widgets whenever i press widgets it returns to homescreen how can i add them?

You AppWidgetPicker, which needs to be in /system/app/ and not /data/app/ so there is a little more to it than just installing.
There is a thread here that gives the details, and it works great
