Wireless speed/connection on A500

I just replaced my old router (WRT54G) with a new one (Netgear WNDR3700 - stock firmware).
I'm surprised that the A500 shows a connection speed of only 65Mbps while sitting next to the router.

While I could be confused, I expected a faster speed setting. Am I missing something or is this normal?

My wireless settings are: WPA2-PSK [AES] for both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz antennas.

Thanks for the input.

Could be the firewall of the router blocking full speed.

SOme more complex routers have settings to prioritize types of bandwith allocation to devices and for purpose (ftp/streaming/gaming ect..) such as Asus Wireless-N routers, if settigns got set wrong it may not allocate speed right, and limit it to mobile devices.

For most uses the 2.4 mhrz antennae is used except when multi-media streaming and high demand settings are triggered it will use the 5G bandwith.

On many DUal band routers, if you ahve a Wireless B device connected it will limit all devices to it, be sure you have a netgear or asus router that supports both at the same time or set the router to wireless-N only for 300mb/sec+ speeds (dependign if yoru router supprts 200, 250 or 300+ speeds).
