You sure can! I just read up on the topic and installed everything. It works great!
Scratch one potential mod. :)

Probably enough room to install a stripped flash drive in there too. Add an external switch to save power when it isn't needed and you'd have some extra storage.
The only real challenge is finding an unused USB port and a good 5 volt source. (Can't use the USB port power because they are dynamically controlled by the port)
(Hide the switch where the SIM slot cover is and you've got super secret extra storage!)

Considering my emulator ROMsets add up to about 12GB, that could make for an scenario where all the ROMs or whatever are kept on the flash drive and off of the other storage.

If the pcie pin outs have power going to them, then you can add a USB device or pcie slot to it,
USB storage, 3G, GPS, even a tv card

@Iwindows - haha wait 6 monthes & you can get them an icecream sandwich! lol

Benchmarks:

Renesas - Quadrant benchmark score of 1220 which is higher than the Galaxy S (850) and just under the Droid X (1250)

Well, the slow performance you see there is due to bad firmware implementation.

The NEC Renesas EMMA Mobile EV2 is capable of higher performance than Nexus One or 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab....

See our benchmarks here

I can make more if there are specific requests :)
