Hi,
I have a Kindle Fire 7 for my little boy which has been rooted and I've now tried a couple of different ROMs due to the appalling FireOS. Everything is fine and he is allowed access to what I want him to have but not what I don't.
However, having just bought him some Bluetooth headphones...
Me sir! Just got my hands on one. Lovely piece of kit.
Ruminating over whether I should root and cfm. There's not huge amounts of bloat on it but I'm not sure most of the stuff is any use.
That said, brand new and not hugely experienced with rooting etc. so would like to find some nice easy...
Is it possible to have a non-rooted Ainol Novo Hero?
Regardless, mine is rooted and still no sign.
I've cleared out some unused apps and what I can. The main problem was SwiftKey wouldn't install despite plenty of space. In the end, I uninstalled it and then it reinstalled absolutely fine...
This is becoming increasingly annoying!
My Hero is set as follows:
Internal:
Total Space 881MB
Available 111MB
AINOLNOVO10:
Total Space 12.84GB
Available 3.53GB
SD CARD:
Total Space 29.80GB
Available 10.91GB
And yet I consistently get apps trying to install/update reporting insufficient...
Finally got around to downloading the zip file again, tested it for errors and installed. Everything working fine now, so I can only assume I must have downloaded the early version and/or a duff one.
Thanks!
To be fair, this message has only appeared a few times and always gave me the impression the system had just crashed in some way. I don't *think* I have an issue with the hardware.
To verify, I've tried re-flashing the v1.7 a few times and it always resorts to this, even with the comp zip added...
Hello,
I've just flashed to v1.7 and all is well with one major pain in the a.
Everything is working as it should, but I cannot turn my wifi on. No matter what I try, it always shows as 'Turning on Wi-Fi...' and does nothing. Normally when I've had this message a simple reboot solves, but...
Still getting the time zone thing but I have at last worked out what is causing it and may be a known issue for you anyway. If the tablet goes into deep sleep, then it wakes up appx. 20mins fast. If I then reboot, the time is picked up correctly.
I tried to restore TWRP data but that just...
Cheers for the advice. I gave this a go but without success. I flashed right back to 0128 and then double-installed 1.6 - all fine. Tried a TWRP restore of the data only, and it went straight back to 'starting apps' spinning inexorably, hard reset then drippler and email notifications going off...
I didn't do it this way. I have subsequently tried a double flash with the same result i.e. starting apps spinning and nothing else.
I re-downloaded with the same result too.
I can still get into TWRP so what exactly does a TWRP backup get me? How much and what is it saving? Apps, app data...
Well it runs through the optimising apps bit and counts up fine, it's after that that it just says 'starting apps' and does nothing. Even more odd is that if I force shutdown from there and reboot, it goes to the wallpaper lock screen but won't let me input the screen pattern, so I am forced to...
I've just installed 1.6 over the top of 1.5, wiped dalvik/cache, rebooted and after the splash screen it showed 'optimising apps' and then 'Android is upgrading...' with 'Starting apps' and a spinning circle...
...and it's been doing this for about an hour!
Force shutdown and reflash?
Edit...
I just thought you'd like to know that, for whatever reason, setting the device to automatic time is now working. Go figure!
At the risk of asking a stupid question, if I want to upgrade to v1.6, do I need to back everything up first or can I install over the top without losing apps, settings...
You live in the US where the internet is something that exists for most people. I live in a rural area of the UK. We might as well be walking around still bowing to the passing Knights as we toil in the field, such is the crappity nature of rural 'broadband' speed. It would take all night for me...
I've turned off automatic time option and have gone back to manual and reverted wi-fi to 'never' just to see if this sorts it. How and why it is getting 20-30mins ahead of the network time is totally beyond me!
I only occasionally want wi-fi on during sleep e.g. downloading anything of any size...
You're welcome!
I do appear to be having some issues though:
1. If I set the time to pick it up from the automatic option, it is anywhere from 5-30mins fast and if I manually set it, it still seems to find a way of being wrong again after an unspecified amount of time.
2. When recovering from...
Given that you seem to get a fair few non-native speakers of English and for clarity's sake, might I suggest:
You must have already upgraded to the 0128 stock firmware to flash this ROM. Use the official 0128 stock firmware package to upgrade and stock recovery - DO NOT USE TWRP at this stage...
Ah, it seems I misread the instructions. I thought I read it as you must use the TWRP to flash 0128. Anyway, problems all solved. I managed to flash 0128 using stock recovery and then from there, the anti-hero install went exactly to plan. I am now the proud and happy owner of an Ainol tablet...
I had a perfectly happy tablet on CM10 so why don't I just leave things alone?
I tried flashing to v1.5 and now have a black screen again. I'm trying to repeat the process but the Ainol Hero Stock firmware 0128 zip file link is broken.
I think I might have inadvertently flashed the...
