Calendar Sync

Does anyone know how to disable the calendar from syncing with Google Calendar? Every time I make a new event in Calendar, it syncs with Google, which then syncs with my phone. I want to prevent that so that I do not have both of them going off at the same time.

Try checking in settings > account & sync, click on your gmail account and chk to see if sync calendar is selected.
