Can't Add Widget

To add a widget, I should be able to do a long press in a clear area of my home screen and select Widgets. That doesn't work ... I just get choices to change my wallpaper.

Alternatively instructions I found suggest pressing the menu button to get appropriate choices but I don't seem to HAVE a menu button.

This is an Acer A500 tablet. What am I missing?

Widgets are handled a little differently in Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich. In both cases you have to go to the upper right corner of the screen. In Honeycomb there is plus to click on then it brings up a bar across the bottom half of the screen with tabs for shortcuts and widgets. Just choose what you want and drag it to the screen you want to put it on in the upper half of the screen.

In ICS go to the home screen you want to add the widget to. Then touch the little grid in the upper right and it will take you to the app/widget drawer. Use the tabs at the top to jump to widgets then just find the one you want and it will drop it on your home screen.
