Elf II firmware?

I know this is about the ultimate newbie question:

I'm assuming I need an English firmware upgrade for my new ELF II.

a) Every word I type is tagged as misspelled

b) I can't access many apps at the Play Store. Many don't appear (Facebook, Twitter, e.g)... and many tell me that they're not supported on my device.

Is there a fix for this (with instructions that I can follow)?

I found DarkElf_v1.0.zip and LiveSuitPack... but I can't find instructions for the installation.

Dark Elf does not appear to fix my problems with connecting devices OTG through usb, ie. external keyboard, external hard drive. Are there any additional drivers that I need and is there a way to access a device manager on the Elf II???
