Forgot password to tablet?

I seem to have forgotten the PIN to my tablet, and there are no "forgot password" or "enter google email" options. I have an ASUS Transformer Prime TF201. Does anyone know a way to hack into my tablet? I googled and tried using the adb method but USB debugging isn't enabled on my tablet (and I can't enable it now since I can't log in). I'm not really sure what rooting is, but would it help? (If so, how does it work?). I know how to factory reset it, but I want that to be last option since I have some important files on it (that I can't access right now).

If WiFi was turned on and you are connected to a previously connected WiFi access point it should ask for your Google user and password. If that's not possible, a factory reset would be your only other option.
