Wow, sweet..
Nice if:
-screen goes really off on standby [it does!]
-kernel supports more frequencies for throttle [it does!]
-Calendar and Contacts sync provider [it doesn't, even market and gmail are broken...]
-improvments of touchscreen, even if i know it's an hardware issue...[i frankly don't see a difference, i'll stay neutral about that]

Looking forward to test it, but as i still dont know how to backup...

Not sure. Calendar and contacts sync, you can flash my ROM and get those (I think)
Touchscreen is a hardare fix
Screen standby, I am not sure about

The uploader hasn't given any comments on the system

Hi Exilaus. Where do you get the rom? I want to probe it too. I''ve got the tablet with single speaker with cam too.

Thanks!

I was able to download all 13 files, finally put together 1 image file.

Start Terminal shell with root in your PAD (root required)

mount your sdcard /extsd and run below command or accordingly.

Start Backup you existing ROM for internal sdcard TF 4GB Scandisk

dd of=/extsd/backup.img if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=1048576

The dd process run at background for 30 minutes.

When completed, do a check with ls command to check the size ~3.7GB.

Reboot

HOWTO Upgrade steps.

Start terminal shell with root in your PAD (root required)

make sure sdcard mounted with copy of new version 2.3 ROM name it update.img

dd if=/extsd/update.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=1048576

this dd process take ~30 minutes run at background, make sure you have your power AC connected.

After 30 minutes, the pad will halt, don't worry, you just need to reset it, by push the reset pin hole.

Risk yourself, if these command break, you will need to open your A8 PAD manually to flash with USBit tools in windows XP.

good luck

Finally, I managed to found time seat down for ~2 hours, get above upgraded down.

I have done about steps, and able to upgraded my 2.2 internal 4GB TF to 2.3 gingerbread ROM.
1st look review 2,3 ROM A8 pad.
The boot logon is color Gingerbread to start with.
The background wall paper is lake.
The pad response seems faster than 2.2 ROM. English version.
Wifi network works and external USB bluetooth (need reboot).
It has Market on it, facebook, skype, AndAppStore client, seems not root yet.

SuperOneClick.exe OR Gingerbread apk can do the root job.

Cheers

James
