GPS mode for A500 : real GPS or A-GPS ?

I'm not an expert in GPs systems, but before purchasing the Iconia A500 (in France) I got many confusing articles when looking at the Iconia specs. Some clearly state that there is no GPS inside, some other the opposit.
So my question is simple : does the A500 have a real GPS chip which allow GPS navigation (copilot or other) without WI-FI nor other network connection ("totally lost somewhere !")
I've found several posts talking about some issues (software), but what is the exact situation ?
Thanks
Marc.

Thanks for your reply. Actually I've not yet purchased mine A500 ! I'm still checking what are the users feedbacks.
To go back to the GPS, is it an internal chip or is the GPS mode only A-GPS ? I mean does it work when there is no Wi-Fi connection (for sure it needs off line maps that where previously loaded) ?
