HDD Won't read on tablet

Hey people,

All new to this forum just a quick question I'm wondering why my 500gb hard drive won't show up on my tablet with a connecter but it will show up on my phone? Samsung s6
Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum Jack

The most common reason for that would be not enough power on the port. If the drive can accept power adapter or you plug it into a powered USB HUB that usually solves the problem. What type of cable are you using?

I'm thinking that's the problem but why would it work on my phone? And usb 3.0

USB 3.0 operates at a higher voltage and amperage than 2.0

I've tried using usb 2.0 but it keeps the power on the hard drive but still doesn't show up

Still the same answer. Not enough voltage/AMPs to get the job done.
