HDMI cable doesnt work

Recently got the Superpad Adroid tablet but cannot get the mini HDMI cable to work on my TV. Tried it on two different TVS, but when I switch to the HDMI channel, I only get the notation across the screen NO SIGNAL. Am I doing something wrong here?
