hello from a zt180 owner

Hi, (OP new member introductions)
I purchased a used zt-180 from a pawnshop near my home in Kingman AZ.
under about device:
It says zt180 andriod _2.2
kernel 2.6.32.9
build zt180-eng AOSP OPENMASTER eng.root.20110503.120935 120935 test-keys.

I found this forum via a yahoo search for the zt180.

I'm a retired Motorola process engineer.

I'm looking to understand how to improve this tablet like:
why the +- toggle does not control volume and
why the button is a back key instead of a home key
if I should revert back to an older android version as I can't seem to find 2.2 info for this tablet.

Fyi I have other tablets/smartphones so I'm not really a beginner. I've got a Dell Streak 7, Motorola Droid, Motorola Droid-x, and 2 ipod touches. Some of which I've given to my daughter and grand daughter.
