Hello all,
I have just bought an Acer Iconia Tab A500 last week with Android 3.0 stock. When I was updating it (via Settings -> About -> System -> update), I noticed the first update (from 3.0 to 3.1, around 370MB) failed 2 times with the error "invalid update...". Then I searched this forum and saw many people also had the same problem. I tried again and it succeeded the third time. But when I wanted to update to 3.2 (around 350MB), it failed 2 times. Finally I figured out how to fix it. It seems that A500 could not update because the file was corrupted. So I download the file on my PC, use Acer Update Decrypt (you can find this tool on xda-developer) to decrypt the downloaded file, then extract it to get the update.zip file. I copied update.zip to a MicroSD card, turned off A500, plugged the SD card in and turned on (with the Volumn Down button is pressed). Then A500 updated successfully. So if you also have the same problem, you can give it a try. Here are the link to update from 3.1 to the latest update: (sorry I don't have the link for 3.0 to 3.1)

Acer Update Decrypt:
[DEV][APP] Acer update decrypter - xda-developers
(They are so kind - you don't need to register in order to download the file)

PS: If you want to know how I can get the links, here is what I did:
1. Download and install Wireshark
2. Download and install Connectify Lite (so you can turn your PC with Wifi to a Wifi hotspot)
3. Use your PC to connect to the internet via LAN cable
4. Run Connectify, share the internet connection
5. Run Wireshark and start capturing packet from the LAN interface (make sure there are no software connecting to the internet)
6. Connect your Acer A500 to your Wifi hotspot on PC
7. On Acer A500: open Settings -> About -> System -> Check for update -> Click Download and Install
8. In the Wireshark window you will see many packets, you can stop capturing now.
9. Look in the upper part of Wireshark -> search for something like: GET /Acer_A500_4.010.40_7.006.03_COM_GEN1_1316137926088_14fd4822.zip HTTP 1.1 ....
10. This is the file you want to download
PS: English is not my native language, so please forgive my mistakes
PS: If any of you have the link to the update file from 3.0 to 3.1 please post it here - it would be great!

Nice! Wish Acer would just post links to the firmware and an official way that we could update through SD cards.

Nice work.

Now ICS is expected one of these days (months) so you get to do this all over again.
Keep us posted about the new address when you see that update.
