We have some new intel that Amazon will be launching the next generation of Kindle Fire in August. There will be three different versions of the new device, but all three will supposedly come housed in a new metallic casing. Here's a quote with some of the details,

The Taiwan-based supplier Compal Electronics has purportedly been given the go signal to ship a million units of the device. Last year, Quanta was in charge of manufacturing the Amazon tablets, but since Amazon decided to change the housing, it inked a deal with Compal Electronics for the next iteration of its Android tablets.

The Kindle Fire 2, according to the same report, will have three versions: The first one is a 7-inch tablet with a display that has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The next has the same display size, but with a higher resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The third has a display measuring 8.9 inches, which has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.

Amazon will also be making some changes to the design of the tablets. The new tablets will come with more angular, instead rounded, corners. The power button and volume controls have also been moved from the sides to the back, supposedly to prevent users from accidentally touching them when handling the device. Lastly, the Kindle Fire 2 HD tablets will weigh less than the present lineup.

It looks like Amazon is getting ready to heat up the tablet wars again.
