Take note that you need to be running on kkmod rom before attempting to run any upgrade. If you do not have the kkmod bootloader, you need to ensure that is flashed before upgrading to KKMod ROM(see KKMod installation steps).

Support for KKMod ROM upgrade via recovery mode

Two methods for updating the utility image:

1. Flash via ADB (you can use ADBWiress from Market if your ADB via USB is not working for you)
- Download ROM utility image and unzip to PC
- adb push recovery.img /sdcard/ (refer to here to setup adb)
- adb shell
- busybox dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 (Download busybox here if you do not have it)(

2. Flash using Android Terminal (Root and busybox required)
- Download ROM utility image and unzip to PC
- Connect usb cable to pc and activate usb storage
- Run terminal application(download from market if you dont have it)
- su
- busybox dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4

You should then see the following when you enter recovery mode(MENU+HOME)

Download KKMod ROM Utility - New User without ROM Utility
Download KKMod ROM Utility - Upgrade to v1.10 for existing user

User who do not have the KKMod Bootloader need to follow the following Step before upgrading to KKMod ROM

1. update tablet with rom utility.
2. Reboot into recovery and confirm that you have gotten the rom utility flashed.
3. Download bootloader update zip and copy into the /sdcard/ directory
4. Download KKMod v2.3.4 update zip and copy into the /sdcard/ directory
5. Boot into rom utility, select upgrade rom. Make sure that you can see both the bootloader and kkmod rom zip.
6. upgrade bootloader by selecting the bootloader update zip
7. Reboot tablet to ensure that you now have the kkmod bootloader before flashing the kkmod rom
8. You need to see a white android guy with ubuntu logo. If you still have the original bootloader. THEN DO NOT go to step 9
9. Boot into recovery and update KKMod rom.

Yup it's gone! Anybody out there have the bootloader zip????? Could maybe send it to me? [email protected]
I sort of got the 2.3.3 version KKMod working, but have no volume and I don't even have it listed in the settings.
I'm having a whale of a time trying to get the Camera working again on a Utopia APad 8 inch with a single speaker and camera.Model shows as imx51_bbg. Everything else works just fine. These 8 inch tablets are the perfect size for my needs ,but man o man what a freaking nightmare of false leads, broken links and missing files when you go to find them. Not to mention the never present, elusive, downright mythical , Factory Firmware
