My Sony Tablet S stopped working?

Here's my situation:
I was playing on my Sony Tablet S when all of a sudden, it spontaneously quit. Soon after, a notification popped up (I forget what it says) and I dismissed it. However, it kept popping up every time I dismissed it. I decided to shut it off. When I tried to turn it back on, a light was emanating from the screen, indicating that it was on, but the screen was black. None of the buttons work, and I'm currently waiting for the battery to run out. Any way I can fix this quickly? Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi welcome to the forum. Try holding the power button for about 20 seconds. This should force it to shut down. Then try restarting and see what happens. If that doesn't work you can try to reset it. I'll move this to the Sony section where you may get more direct help.

That worked. I guess I didn't hold the power button long enough.
