Hi all --

I have a problem -
Please bear with me as I'm a newbie to these forums, and
if I don't post everything you need to know, chastise gently and ask me ;-)

I have a Velocity T510 that's been given to me as a DOA to see if I can recover it -
I know nothing about what's been done to it - I have
no reason to believe that anyone's tried to

Symptoms -
Backlight comes on
Nothing appears on the screen _at all_ .
When plugged into a USB cable and a Windows machine,
the USB does not appear to detect -- at least, Windows doesn't
pop up and say "hey, I've found a new device here"
Nothing seems to be wrong with the tablet other than that - no cracked screen, etc.
The 'up' volume button appears not to 'click', though all other buttons properly do.
Reset has no effect.

What I'm wondering is
how to do any further testing to determine whether the unit is _trying_ to do anything at all.

I don't know if it's stuck in some boot-loop, totally dead, or what.

Ideas, anyone?

From reading another post in this subform, it would seem that steps I could take are:
Get the latest firmware onto a micro SD.
Power the device on while holding the Up key.
That should get me the Cruz logo
Let go of the power, but continue to hold the volume button.
Android icon should show, etc etc
This will get to the recovery menu, etc
I should then be able to browse to the firmware I download.
So -
I have two questions =
Given that it's possible that the Vol+ button on mine is stuck, is it possible that is why the
unit isn't booting past a black screen??
the second question is that I cannot seem to find a firmware download
for the T510.
The 'latest firmware' link for the T510
seems to imply that I cannot download a zipfile...
Does anyone else see that same thing from cruztablet.com ??

This is based on a post from mvalcarc
"But you need a micro SD card. if you dont have one i highly recommend that you get one with an SD adapter
Go the cruztablet.com and download the latest firmware for your device.
Transfer the zip you just downloaded to your micro SD card, and then remove it from your computer.
Put the micro SD into your Cruz, and power it on while holding the volume up button
Once you get the Cruz logo, let go of the power button but keep your finger on the volume button
The screen should go black. and youll see an android icon in the middle of the screen. wait a few moments and a triangle with a question mark in it will appear.
Now press vol+ then power to open to recovery menu, the volume buttons move up and down. power will select and option
Navigate to the second option which lets you install firmware from an external SD card.
Select your firmware that is on you micro SD and hit the power button to install it.
Your cruz should be fixed after firmware is updated
