Problem displaying photos

Is it normal for a tablet ( 7" E-Tab, Android 3.0) to stretch images to fit its widescreen format thereby making people look short and fat in landscape aspect or tall and thin when viewed in portrait aspect ? There is an adjustment available in most video viewers to correct this but none seems to be available in any image-viewing app that I've been able to find.
Has anyone else encountered this problem ?

I haven't heard of that problem. Usually gallery apps just show the pictures in their native size and you can pinch to zoom in our out but it doesn't actually stretch them. Have you checked in the general settings for something like fit to screen or scale?

You began with photos and ended with videos I'll take on the photo part by suggesting you see if you can download an app called QuickPic from the Google Store. See if it makes a difference.
