I haven't played with it too extensively but XBMC is almost an OS in itself. I can confirm it is working over WiFi, I installed on tablet and can use xbmc interface to play content directly to my gtv or any dlna enabled receiver. My gtv itself of course crapped its pants when I tried to install but a boy can dream!
There is a remote app as well on market. Then you can always use bubbleUPnP or mediahome too direct traffic, I'm partial to bubble since it beams my Google music files around.
