reducing battery use when not using the tablet?

I am using a wifi only Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 tablet and are trying to find ways of reducing the bstrery use when I am not using the tablet (swifched off but in standby). I use the Task manager to make sure no apps are running wben I turn off the tablet.

any suggestions would be welcome thanks.

I've found that turning the WiFi off when the tablet is off helps a lot. There's even a free app to do this for you automatically:

+1 for Auto Airplane Mode. I get <2% battery use in 8 hours in sleep mode. No extra effort required.
