Description:

Changes in v1.2b:
1. JIT enabled (required libs and binary built from AOSP by me. known issues right now)
2. Gallery.apk, Browser.apk, Music.apk are from v1.1

Changes in v1.2a (stable):
1. Fixed Music and Gallery apk's. (reverted to previous versions)

Changes in v1.2:
1. All system apk's except Browser, Settings, SettingsProvider, and non-Google/AOSP apk's are built from source by me.
2. Contacts works.
3. Account and Sync Settings present
4. Wifi signal icon changed.

Changes in v1.1:
1. Cosmetic framework changes.
2. Calender with working sync (tested on my tablet).
3. Live Wallpapers moved to /sdcard/watery-optional-apks/
4. 3D Gallery changed back to stock Gallery per request.
5. DalvikVM heap increased to 48M
6. All apk's zipaligned.
7. System shell (/system/bin/sh) has been replaced with bash.

Changes in v1.0c:
1. Disabled Dalvik VM JIT Compiler due to stability issues.

Changes in v1.0b:
1. su permissions have been fixed.
2. Aldiko and other Market apps have been removed.
3. 3D Gallery has replaced the stock Gallery.
4. YouTube updated to the xda backport version.
5. GenieWidget.apk (News and Weather) has been removed.
6. xaueious' optimized libwebcore.so has replace the stock webkit lib.
7. LauncherPro is now the default launcher.
8. The Dalvik JIT compiler has been enabled. <--- This causes breakage.
9. Clockworkmod Recovery will replace the stock recovery if you use update.zip. (someone please test this since I haven't used the stock recovery since I installed the 7015a update.)
10. AndroidTablets.net app preinstalled. :D

Here it is. The first non-Coby ROM for the MID7015/MID7015A (same thing, different versions).

The custom status bar icons are from stewartchamp's Watermark'D theme for Ultimate Droid.

gapps preinstalled with the useless (maps, goggles, street view) ones removed. some other cruft deleted.

boot.img from the original update was used for this, so ro.secure is set to 0. I've also added clockworkmod recovery to the zip and update-script.

/system/xbin and /system/bin were copied with no overwrite from the original update.

Root tools preinstalled.

LCD Density is 200 in build.prop.

As usual, if you break your device, it's not my fault. (i.e. I'm not responsible for your decisions.)

Install process with Clockworkmod Recovery:

You must have clockwork recovery installed in order to install this firmware.
This ROM formats both the system and data partitions.

Download link:
watery-kyros-v1.2b.zip
watery-kyros-v1.1.zip

watery-k-patch.zip - this zip has the Gallery and Music apk's from coby's update. either unzip and copy manually or used clockwork to install *without* wiping anything. I swear I'll get these fixed in one of the releases. :p

Place this file in the root of your sdcard.

1. Reboot into Clockworkmod Recovery
2. Select Backup and Restore.
3. Select Backup
4. Press the silver Back button to get back to the main menu.
5. Select Wipe data/factory reset.
6. Select Install zip from sdcard
7. Select Choose zip from sdcard
8. Select the Watery Kyros update file you downloaded.
9. Select reboot now.
10. Let the device fully boot. It may lock up after the boot animation.
11. Reboot into recovery. (you may have to use the reset button while holding the silver Back button)
12. Scroll down to wipe cache partition. Select it and then select 'Yes' on the next screen.
13. Once that's finished, scroll down to Advanced and select it.
14. Scroll down to Wipe Dalvik Cache. Select it and select 'Yes' on the next screen.
15. Once that's finished, select 'Reboot now' from the main menu.
16. If the tablet locks up, repeat 11-15. I only had to do this once. These extra steps are for the JIT compiler.

It will take a while for the first boot. You'll need to skip the Setup Wizard so you can turn on wifi. To add your Google account after that, just try to use a Google app.

NP. I did it as much for my own satisfaction as for the community. The changes aren't that drastic right now.. I'm going to make a black notification bar version next with poss. some minor cosmetic changes and zipaligning done.

The instructions might need to dumbed down a notch or two.

Great stuff :)

To those of you who are unaware, this sort of thing takes a lot of time.

Remember the thanks button

No. there's no custom kernel yet. This is mostly a combining of the official updates, gapps, and some minor cosmetic changes in the notification bar. I'll do more as I learn how.

I see. Thanks for your effort. I guess a custom kernel will be possible with Telechips releasing the kernel source?
