Rooting/ThirdPty Rom on a Zeepad 7.0?

I recently picked up a no-name 7" tablet with Android 4.0 on it. It works pretty well but I need to root it so I can install OpenVPN, would also like to put a 4.X-based CyanogenMod on it, if possible, as I have that rom on my phone and love it. The only ID on the case is on the back, showing "Zeepad 7.0". The excrutiatingly "engrished" "manual" indicates as follows:

CPU: ARM Cortex-A8 1GHZ-1.5GHZ
RAM: 512MB
ROM: 4GB

Ideas? Tips?

I have a zeepad 7.0 as I can do a hard reset with the tablet off
