Samsung recently announced a new LTE version of its popular tablet, the Galaxy Tab 8.9. It is the company’s third tablet device and it runs on the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) Operating System, which is specially designed for tablet devices. The original Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 comes with different connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G, Bluetooth 3.0 and MicroUSB, but the new Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE comes with an added LTE connectivity option.

“With the introduction of GALAXY S II LTE and GALAXY Tab 8.9 LTE, we will take the capabilities of these devices to a whole new level. LTE redefines the user experience made possible by these devices and opens entirely new possibilities in terms of content viewing, sharing, quality and connectivity,” said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE features a 8.9 inch WXGA display, 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, 1 GHz dual core application processor, Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) OS, Samsung TouchWiz UX, 3 megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, HD (720p) video recording, Full HD (1080p) video playback, 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0 and so on.
Other features include a 3.5mm audio jack, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, 3G Connectivity, Adobe Flash Player 10.2, Gyroscope, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Quickoffice HD Editor, Stereo Speaker, 16 GB internal memory, microSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory, LTE Connectivity, Android Market, Social Hub, Readers Hub, Music Hub, Samsung Mini Apps Tray and a 6000 mAh battery.

Theoretically, the LTE technology allows you to download files at speeds of up to 100 Mbps and upload at speeds of up to 50 Mbps. It means that you can download an entire film in less than two minutes. The LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 measures just 8.6mm and weighs only 455g. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE will be showcased at the IFA 2011, along with the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE.
