Slight discomfiture in viewing certain graphics in picture Gallery-could anyone help?

The Gallery app for viewing graphics in icecream sandwich has a black background. When viewing certain charts copied from the net (Wikipedia) and viewing offline in the picture Gallery the transparent parts of the charts downloaded are appearing black due to the black background. Any text existing in these transparent regions of the original graphic is therefore merging with the black background and becoming invisible. As black on black ought to be. Any way out? Is there any setting by which the background colour can be changed to something lighter - in the manner we change backgrounds in book-readers? Could someone help please?

Welcome to the forum

My suggestion is to ditch the Gallery app in favor of QuickPic, it's much more capable and free at the Store.

Just to point out for those who may not be aware, Wikipedia offers its charts and other graphics in .SVG format. Both this format and .PNG have an alpha channel for transparency. Wikipedia has the alpha channel enabled for its graphics, which is why Tirthankar is having a problem viewing the charts in the gallery app. Replacing the app is the best option here, as it is the least labor intensive option.

Thanks everyone. The light background option in QuickPic did it. The charts can be read clearly now even over the transparent regions.
