Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wireless Network Settings > Network Notification

I generally just turn wireless off when not using to save battery power.

How can I prevent the browser from always searching for the mobile site? . . .

If you want the stock browser to open the "full" site when you put in a URL then:

Open the browser, type in "about:debug" into the address bar.

Then, menu > more > settings, scroll down to UAString and select "Desktop".

from this post.

You can also try other web browsers from the Market.

Your best bet is to install dolphin hd browser. It is the best browser for android in my opinion. It has a setting that you can set to desktop so it always pulls up a web site just as it does on your desktop computer.

Thanks to all of you for your responses to this entry. Sorry I haven't replied sooner. I think I will try this other browser.
