usb keyboard on acer tablet

I've read that any usb keyboard should be able to work on the tablet but when I plug in the keyboard to the usb slot the only thing that works are two of the function keys to control the volume (and they are actually reversed - volume + key actually turns the volume down on the tablet and vice versa). I have a microsoft usb keyboard that works great on my pc and figured I'd see if it does the trick on the tablet. Perhaps there are drivers that I need to install, how do you do that on a tablet (windows 7 is plug and play ready so I never worried about it on the pc)? There's obviously communication going on as the function keys work to turn the volume up/down using the usb keyboard but the rest of the keys aren't responding.

Any help out there?

When the honeycomb 3.1 update comes out you will be able to use USB devices.
