Best write up is found here: A500 Wallpaper Template *REDUX* - xda-developers It has a template that you can save in your favorite image editor and then size and paste your wallpaper into and then save it. Its a bit of a pain in the neck.

Click here for my post at XDA The link has the template, and link to the Wallpapers I have made. To answer the question, to load a wallpaper that won't scale your image should be 1918 x 1406. 1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080 work really well, just not perfect.
